Developing and administering a LoTi-based questionnaire and Adopter-Level questionnaire provided an invaluable experience in conducting surveys, analyzing the data and determining teacher needs. I was able to effectively assess an individual teacher’s technology use and provided coaching to meet his needs. I learned how and practiced developing and maintaining a Coaching Journal through the process of coaching a new science teacher on our staff. The coaching portion of this course was most rewarding and will be equip me to be a more effective coach and technology leader.
Although it was challenging and time intensive, by far the most rewarding assignment was the technology workshop designed and delivered to fellow teachers. I was able to design a session on Digital Storytelling which included excellent resources for teachers that were linked from the webpage developed for the session. Handouts proved useful as participants participated in some hands-on practice. It was rewarding to see the session unfold as planned and to see the participants eagerly learning some powerful digital storytelling tools. The feedback was very positive, and I am optimistic that the skills learned will be used. This experience opened up additional opportunities to present to fellow teachers on other topics during the semester on Edmodo and VoiceThread, and more will be planned for our next school year.
In conclusion, ITEC 7460 contained valuable experiences that I will always remember, and the knowledge and skills gained will continue to benefit me and others I interact with in the years to come.
